Top tips for helping school leavers
This autumn, 460,000 18 year olds will be starting a new life at university. How can we help young students settle into their new adventure?
1. Tell school leavers about UCCF student link-up.
Almost every university and college has a CU, so encourage young people to go to www.uccf.org.uk/starting-uni and register their details. They’ll be welcomed by a friendly face, have a platform to make friends quickly and be introduced to local churches where discipleship can take place and supported in their outreach.
2. Tell them to visit www.uccf.org.uk/starting-uni for helpful resources
We’ve got loads of helpful video interviews here about university life, church and being part of a CU for school leavers. It’s also a place where soon-to-be freshers can find and contact their CU.
3. Give UCCF student handbooks to school leavers.
We’ve got a great handbook for how to get involved with CU life that doubles up as a recipe book, so young people can be kept both spiritually, and physically, well fed! You can order free copies online.
4. Support Christian Union Staff working with the CU your school leaver is headed to.
Christian Union Staff Workers train, equip and resource CUs to live and speak for Jesus. They stand with students in evangelism and help connect them to local churches. Support a staff worker by making a gift online.
