Dundee-the city of discovery. One where the Beano and the Dandy began. One that gave Claire a gnasher of a degree to work through. Graduating in Marketing with French, it was evening sessions of 24 and nachos that sustained her - An initiation to her church family but one that would shape the next 5 years.
First hating the CU for its clickiness, she learnt to sympathise with Jack Bauer (if only you knew who I worked for). Feeling hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed, perplexed but not in despair and eventually serving on the committee for 2 years running: the first as prayer secretary, the second as President.
Yet, in her effort for change, her relationship with God became a list of do’s and don’ts; a life compartmentalised between the Christian and the non; confining God to a box and so she decided to spend a year doing RELAY and have it all blown apart.
Realising how much God’s grace freed her from having to impress –from the need to do or don’t, Claire learnt what it meant for Jesus to be Lord over all of her life. To seek to see and acknowledge him in every area and so grapple with the truths of the gospel message given by God – one that really is good news and will continue to amaze her wherever she goes. Having the privilege to share it with students Claire will continue to seek to live it out thanks to UCCF and all of the valuable teaching and training they give on the staff team. Specifically in Edinburgh at Queen Margaret, Napier and Galashiels !
