Pray for: Freshers
For many new students, university is a time of change and challenge. For some, leaving home and starting a new life is daunting; for others, it is a golden new world of opportunity. While university life is vastly different from home life and adjustments ought to happen, our hope is that Christian students remain strong in their faith in the sea of change. We want to be sure that Christian students leave university more passionate about Jesus, more committed to the local church, and more faithful in evangelism than they were when they entered.
With this in mind, we set up a campaign to recruit schoolleavers to our Christian Unions. Here, they are not only welcomed to the university, surrounded by friendly faces, and guided to a church - they can also become part of a vibrant mission team whose aim it is to bring the gospel to their campus. Since 1918, countless students have found their CU to be a great support as they have negotiated student life.
In service of this campaign is our Student Handbook/Cookbook which is designed to feed ‘freshers’ both physically and spiritually. Alongside quick and easy recipes, there is advice on university life, finding a church, and relationships. Pray that many school leavers link-up to their CU and are blessed by their time there.
Give thanks for:
- many freshers who have already been contacted by their CUs
- the Student Handbook/Cookbook and the way it has been used already
Please pray:
- for the CUs as they seek to reach out to freshers and invite them to the CU meetings
- that freshers would welcome the opportunity to find out more about the CU and what it stands for. Pray they would go along to the meetings.
- for Christian freshers as they live and speak for Jesus on the campus
- for the CUs, students and the staff workers in your region as they follow up the contacts they have made with non- Christians in freshers’ week
