Established Christian Unions which already have well-functioning constitutions are not obliged to change. Of course, they may wish to review their constitutions in the light of the model and there may well be good reasons for doing things differently. Furthermore, very small Christian Unions may not consider it worth their while formally to constitute themselves, but may wish to continue meeting as informal groups. Since this is a model constitution, its language is often mandatory (‘there shall be …’). But all this assumes a prior decision that it is right for the group in question to adopt it as their constitution
