Christian Union Model Constitution
Download the Christian Union Model Constitution by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.
This is a model constitution. It follows that it is not obligatory.
Established Christian Unions which already have well-functioning constitutions are not obliged to change. Of course, they may wish to review their constitutions in the light of the model and there may well be good reasons for doing things differently. Furthermore, very small Christian Unions may not consider it worth their while formally to constitute themselves, but may wish to continue meeting as informal groups. Since this is a model constitution, its language is often mandatory (‘there shall be …’). But the language assumes a prior decision that it is right for the group in question to adopt the model as their constitution.
Students considering affilating their Christian Union to their SU or Guild should discuss this issue further with their UCCF staff worker. They will be able to give good advice in order to make the best approach possible to the SU or Guild.
