Important Information
When and where is Forum?
Forum begins on Monday 6th September with a delicious evening meal at 6pm. Pitch up between 3pm and 6pm so we can welcome you, give you freebies and help you set up your tent. And then, suddenly, it’ll be Friday 10th lunchtime and we’ll be saying goodbye.
We’ll be at the Quinta Centre, at Quinta Hall, Weston Rhyn, Oswestry, SY10 7LR.
For travel details please see the travel page. If you’re getting into Chirk Station between 3 and 6pm, look out for our steward and free shuttle bus. If you are delayed in trying to get to the conference, please try to let somebody know who might already be on site – your Staff Worker, or another friend.
What should I bring?
Self-Catering Campers
Bring a tent, sleeping bag, warm clothes, torch, towel and toiletries – not forgetting your Bible and a trusty notebook. We also recommend you bring a roll mat and blanket with you, as it can get quite cold at night.
Imagine camping for five glorious days of sun, and for five glorious days of steady rain, and then pack for both. Think wellies and waterproofs, sun-cream and shorts. Come to registration when you arrive for a helping hand and some freebies.
There are portable showers, toilets and washing up points, so bring a washing-up bowl, tea towels and some detergent for any washing up that you may need to do.
There will be a freezer available to refreeze ice-packs for cool-boxes, a small shop within walking distance of the Quinta and a Co-op in Chirk (10 minutes drive away). The nearest largest supermarket is Sainsbury’s in Oswestry, a 20 minute drive.
Full board Campers
See above, minus the pot noodles. Your meals will be cooked for you and served indoors. At registration we will let you know which dining room you have been allocated to.
Indoors
Bring a pillowcase and sleeping bag, towel and toiletries –your Bible and a trusty notebook. We will provide you with your room number and dining room at registration.
Indoor Girly Campers
You lucky things! Sleeping indoors, you won’t need to bring a tent, but you will need to bring the same things as normal self-catered campers. Bring a sleeping bag, as well as an airbed or roll matt. You will be cooking on an outside terrace so bring cooking equipment like a camp-stove. There is designated freezer on site where you can store icepacks, to use in cool-boxes. You will also have your own indoor toilets and showers to use. Bring suitable clothing, a torch, towel and toiletries – hair-dryers and straighteners welcome – as well as your Bible and notebook.
Register on arrival between 3pm-6pm to get your programme and wristband, and Girly Camping Co-ordinators (aka lovely CU Staff Workers) will be on hand to help you settle in.
Don’t plan a meal when you arrive on Monday evening as we are throwing all Girly Campers a welcome BBQ to help you get to know each other – it’s on the house!
What else do you need to know?
This year we have a specially designated marquee – The Hub for use during free time, including a Resources Area, Fairtrade Café, bookstall run by IVP and Internet Terminals.
Our After Hours timetable includes bands, acoustic gigs, and opportunities to showcase you own talent in our Open Mic session. Forum’s very first Artist-In-Residence will also be on-site to inspire your creativity, and there will also be a venue for Arts, Films and Games.
There are plenty of outdoor facilities at Quinta for playing a variety of sports, as well as grounds to explore, so if you want to use your free time in this way, bring appropriate kit with you.
We will also have an offering taken during the week to support the Christian Unions in the Middle-East, so bring your cheque book and a generous heart! Forum does not have a cash point so bring appropriate cash to fund visits to the fish and chip van, and bookstall.
We’re really looking forward to meeting you. Do pray for sunshine!
Please note: Do not bring any valuables on to the site that you can’t carry with you at all times (eg. laptops). We will not be able to provide any facilities for locking away valuables and our insurance will not cover the loss/theft/breakage of any such items.
