Hebrews 11, 12 and 13, Julian Hardyman

Julian Hardyman speaking at Forum 2004 on 'Further: Jesus and our endurance race to final joy' from Hebrews 11, 12 and 13

Further: Jesus and our endurance race to final joy

1. Run the race (1)

  • be encouraged by the crowd – what the OT heroes of Hebrews 11:1-40 show us
  • throw off anything that could hold you back, including sin
  • remember it’s a marathon not a sprint

2. As you run, keep Jesus in view (2-3)

  • What his suffering meant – opposition and shame
  • What kept him going – future joy
  • Jesus and faith

3. Treat your suffering as part of your training (4-13)

  • Suffering – the proof that God is our Father
  • Suffering – God’s way of training us
  • Suffering – what it does for us

Final Challenge:
