Midlands Update

Well, congratulations! You’ve nearly reached the end of Autumn term! We’ve had some great stories of what’s been going on in the Midlands this term. We’ve seen a number of CUs really grow, we’ve had some awesome houseparties and we’ve seen people coming to know the Lord for the first time (woop!). You can read some more in the news and prayer sections on the website. Now its Christmas time…and that can only mean one thing…Carol Services!

Whichever CU you go to, this is the easiest evangelistic opportunity you’ll get this year! Who wouldn’t want to come along and share in the Christmas cheer?! Sing some festive Christmas carols. Eat some mince pies. Wear silly reindeer hats and tinsel for no apparent reason. And hear a clear and engaging talk about what Christmas is really all about. Why not make an evening of it with your friends? You could offer to cook an early Christmas dinner beforehand and then all head off to the CU carol service.

Some of you may have been recently (or soon to be!) asked to consider serving in CU in some sort of leadership capacity. The year I was asked to be a small group leader was petrifying but such a brilliant opportunity to learn new skills, to rely on God and to be used by Him for his glory. God uses CUs and is still using them. What could your part in that be?

To help you do the best job you can do and make this year a year when you really grow in faith, we put on a brilliant training weekend (19th- 21st Feb, 2010) This means all the people involved in CU leadership from across the Midlands get together for teaching, worship, training and fellowship to prepare you for the adventure ahead. The baton of CU leadership has been passed on for generations and generations. Pray for the next lot who are taking it up for the next part of the race.
