Ruth Port

Team Leader

As Team Leader, Ruth is responsible for supporting and co-ordinating the team of CU Staff Workers in the North West region. She works with the team to ensure that the student leaders of the CUs are supported, trained and resourced in their roles. She is also the acting Staff Worker for the Christian Union at Manchester Metropolitan University. Please pray that during the her time with UCCF, evangelism of students by students will increase in profile and that students will have more confidence in the power of God’s Word combined with His Spirit to change lives, if only His people will proclaim the gospel faithfully.

Ruth is also keen to develop good relationships with churches in the region. The local church is the life-long and primary place of Christian community, teaching, discipleship, ministry and pastoral care. Involvement in Christian Union is a short-term (3-4 year) opportunity to be part of a mission team on campus.

Ruth joined UCCF in 2006 after a business career of over 10 years, which is a rare career route for UCCF field staff, but which enables her to bring a different perspective to the work. Ruth has been a member of St John's Church, Hartford in Cheshire for many years and was part of a small team that planted a new church in the parish in 2002. She was once a competitive oarswoman, rowing at national level before the other 3 members of the lightweight squad all became pregnant within 2 months of each other. Not being a great single sculler, Ruth now keeps fit by going to the gym and getting a long walk in the hills whenever she can.
