UCCF Summer Teams
Each summer UCCF: The Christian Unions send students out around the UK and the world on Summer Teams, usually in partnership with Friends International and IFES but also with other Christian agencies.
Where do they go?
Recent Teams have visited Bulgaria, Cambodia, Lithuania, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, and Singapore & Malaysia. In previous years, Teams have also gone to China, Moldova, New Zealand, Peru, Romania, Spain and other destinations.
International Student Outreach Teams reach out to international students who come to study English around the UK. The purpose of the Team is to engage with international students and share the gospel with them; this may include leafleting, and running outreach cafés in the evenings. Locations include Bournemouth, Cambridge, Edinburgh and Wimbledon (London).
What happens on a Summer Team?
Each team and country visited is unique, but students who go on Summer Teams return home challenged and changed by the experience. Activities may include leading Bible studies for Christians and non Christians, English lessons, running sports camps, doing practical work, carrying out surveys, or even running campus
missions. A key element is that of meeting with local student groups and encouraging them in their evangelism.
What can I do?
PRAY!
Use the prayer information on this website and the IFES website.
EXPLORE!
View this year's teams by following this link or contact your CU Staff Worker to discuss how you might get involved. The Christian Vocations website provides extensive resources to mobilise Christians for mission (including short-term opportunities) .
GO!
Summer Teams are normally based around a group of students from a particular CU or geographical area as this makes it easier for the Team to get together for orientation and team-building. CU Staff Workers publicise the summer teams they are involved in to Christian Unions in their region. Contact your Regional Team to find out more.
UCCF and IFES Teams operate within the Global Connections Code of Best Practice for Short-term mission.
What the Punters said!
Summer Teams provide a fantastic opportunity for students to put their
faith into practice. I don't know of a better opportunity to grow in
your Christian Faith. It helps you to distinguish between genuine
biblical Christianity and the culturally driven Christianity that we
often descend into if we haven't seen God at work in a completely
different situation.

‘It was a privilege to share the Gospel to open hearts. God has given
me a new desire to boldly share it with friends and family back home.’
