Five Top Tips for the Summer Holidays
The summer holidays are almost here – so how are you going to make the most of the next few months? Here are some ideas:
1. Pray. Don’t forget about your life at University when you are at home! Keep praying for your friends who don’t know Jesus yet and for the CU activities in Freshers week. Maybe you could write a summer prayer diary so that you can pray for different friends and the CU plans on different days of the week.
2. Give. If you are getting a job this summer why not think about giving some of your income to the CU? Almost every CU event costs something, but Freshers week is an especially expensive time. Pray and ask the Lord to help you set some money aside for your CU mission next academic year.
3. Plan. Make sure you know when Freshers week is in September and find out how you can get involved. Don’t forget to plan to go back to your university in time to meet the Freshers and welcome them into the CU.
4. Go. There are lots of opportunities for you to get involved in summer missions. If you haven’t planned to get involved in a mission why not check out the summer teams section of the UCCF website? And if you can’t go, then commit to praying for your friends who are heading off this summer. Don’t forget about the team going from Wales to Lithuania at the beginning of July to help on an English camp for students.
5. Enjoy. In Psalm 104 the writer recalls all the good gifts the Lord lavishes on His creation. As you enjoy the sun and sea, friends and family, give thanks to the One who not only made all things but continues to give us all these good gifts by His grace.
