Church Partners
‘Partnership in the gospel’ is a phrase used by Paul to describe his relationship with the church in Philippi (Phil 1:5). It’s an important challenge for UCCF: The Christian Unions as we seek to build relationships with churches.
Paul describes ‘partnership in the gospel’ in several ways – prayer, service, giving, preaching, care, interest and help. We are always keen to establish partnerships with churches so that together we can support and equip students to live and speak for Jesus.
We strongly encourage all CU members to also be committed members of a local church, as this is central to Christian growth. We hope that church life and CU activities will compliment each other. We are convinced that the local church is the best place to receive Bible teaching, wide fellowship, and pastoral care. Christian Unions are three or four year campus-based mission teams, which form the student-led arm of the local church on campus, seeking to spread the gospel amongst students.
Churches can best support CU activities by resourcing them in whatever ways they feel are appropriate. For example, by sending speakers and teachers to encourage the CU, participating in evangelistic events, by considering financial support for the CU, and of course, by praying for the CU’s activities.
