This fortnight, join us as we pray about...

Relationships

18 Give thanks for the opportunity Derby CU have had to build up such a good relationship with the Students’ Union and the university as a whole as they won best society not long ago. They’ve found that this has also been the case with support from a multi-faith centre in Derby and consistently positive feedback from local churches.

19 Last term, CICCU took part in a debate with the Buddhist Society and the Hindu Society, entitled, ‘How do we find inner peace?’ Thank God for this gospel opportunity, and pray for the CU to build upon relationships with other societies to open up more doors of this nature.

20 Please join us in committing the London CU Project to God, asking that he would use every initiative and event that forms part of it as an opportunity to unite the CUs to form a city-wide mission team, passionate about bringing the gospel of Jesus to our capital.

21 ‘During our houseparty last term we were reminded that we are not designed to be alone – that we are in this together! Pray that we would be a CU who pray together, who rejoice and weep together, who support one another and build one another up. But above all, a CU that seeks to proclaim the gospel and take it out to our campus.’
- Miriam Crowe, QMUCU Vice President

22 ‘Please do continue to pray for unity here. With a CU of over 500, there are students from a rich variety of denominational backgrounds, and I'm constantly reminding myself that we are so blessed to have such unity around the cross of Christ. When the devil attacks us, it often comes by trying to get at our unity, so please pray that we would all remain gospel-focused and so most effective for Christ on campus.’
- Tom Heasman, Southampton University CU President

23 ‘We are really thankful for good relations with the Students’ Union and we ask for prayers that this would continue and that we can continue to meet and run events in the freedom we currently enjoy. We praise God that our CU is continuing to grow, but there is much work still to do. Please pray that we do not become complacent but are excited by the gospel and want to spread it until our whole campus has heard!’
- Jenny Williamson, Bath University CU Prayer Secretary

24 Staff Worker Liesl Warton and Relay Worker Pip Grave are currently seeking to develop relationships with students at Sparsholt Agricultural College, Winchester, to get a CU up and running there. Let’s join them in praying for these relationships to blossom and for interest to grow as they do their best to support and nurture the Christians in the college.

25 To better serve one another and reach the whole campus in Bangor, the Welsh and English CUs there have begun to work much more closely with one another, sharing resources, prayers and manpower. Please pray for deepened relationships and support, encouraging one another to better serve and reach out to non-Christians on campus.

26 Matt Shortman, Staff Worker in Nottingham and Lincoln, asks that we ‘pray for improving relations between the CU at Bishop Grosseteste, Lincoln University and the Students’ Union and Chaplaincy, particularly as they seek to rejoin the Union as an official society.’

27 Praise God for the turnaround at Worcester University CU this year. Since winning a university award for ‘best society of the year’ last year, the CU was focused predominantly on social aspects and events-based visibility rather than personal and relational evangelism. This year, however, it seems that they have grasped the purpose and vision of CU and are working hard to put it into practice.

28 Sheffield CU were delighted to see a number of students from the Sheffield University Atheist Society coming to hear one of their lunchbar talks last term, and are seeking this term to build up these relationships with further discussion and by visiting the society and listening to them. Let’s pray for them as they put these plans into action.

29 ‘We would like prayer that we would continue to build relationships and become more united in both our college CUs and when we meet together. As we're so spread out over London it often feels quite disjointed and one of our big aims this year was to reduce that.’
- Amy Manning, UAL Co-President

30 Give thanks for the way the new Strathclyde faculty groups have taken off lately. Thank God especially for the attitude of the group leaders and their desire to humbly serve. Pray that through these groups many would be praying regularly for friends and would be equipped to use Uncover with them.

31 Thank God for the growing community of Buxton Campus CU, Derby University, a good number of whom are either new Christians or previously unchurched. Pray for their times together – fifteen or so students meet in The Source, a trendy café near campus, to discuss Luke’s Gospel and pray for one another.
