Even with a global pandemic… the vision is the same

CUs are all about giving the students on our campuses the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ. But our campus experience is going to be totally different this year...

Lockdown for all of us has meant big changes to our way of life and prompted us to re-consider what we truly value. Going to university this term will bring more change and more challenges to our values.

New students will be away from the habits, security and comfort of home perhaps for the first time. The information to take in during the first week at uni can be overwhelming. So many won’t give spiritual things a second thought in freshers’ week. But a new Christian friend who loves them well will open up opportunities to talk about Jesus as term goes on.

So, your CU has the opportunity to help new Christian students make friendships for Jesus by:

  • Encouraging friendships with people who aren’t Christians
  • Showing them ways to practically serve the people around them
  • Spurring them on and praying with them in CU

Returning students will also have to find new ways of doing life at uni in a post-covid world.

So, your CU has the opportunity to get returning Christian students refocused for Jesus by:

  • Reconnecting with Uni churches
  • Settling into the new patterns of CU community
  • Building habits that will help them flourish as they live and speak for Jesus.

All of these things help us refocus on Jesus, himself - the ultimate way to navigate life in a pandemic and at all times.

CUs still exist to give students the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel.

But how can we actually make that happen during a global pandemic?

That’s where this guide comes in. Click on the area you need to think about and see what tips you can pick up as you plan your term in 2020.

How to run remarkable events online is a treasure trove of how-to ideas to enrich the online events your CU can offer this term to help people meet Jesus.
