Getting to Forum
Forum is held at the glorious Quinta Christian Centre in the stunning Shropshire countryside. It’s right on the border of Wales and England, so don’t worry if you start to see signs in Welsh!
For your Satnav, you want Quinta Christian Centre, Weston Rhyn, Oswestry, Shropshire, SY10 7LR.
Arrival and departure
Please arrive between 3-6pm on Tuesday 28 August. You can depart from 12.30pm on Saturday 1 September (packed lunches will be available for catered delegates).
If you are delayed on the day of the conference, let someone know who might already be on site (your CU Staff Worker or another friend).
Top tip: Go to the Forum Facebook page to share any travel offers or requests in advance. This may be a sure-fire way to save money and make a friend.
Travelling by Coach
If you're travelling from (or through) London, Edinburgh, Stirling, Dundee, Aberdeen or Glasgow, it may be cost effective to book a place on a UCCF coach travelling to and from Forum. More info to follow.
Travelling by Train
The nearest train station to Quinta is Chirk (Y Waun in Welsh). It’s on the Shrewsbury-Chester line of Arriva Trains Wales (for all you train spotters, or Railway Systems Engineering students – seriously, you can do it at Birmingham Uni!).
When you arrive, look for the free shuttle coach service departing from the roadway by Chirk station to Quinta for Forum. A friendly Forum steward in high-vis tabard marks the spot between 3-6pm on Tuesday 28 August.
A free shuttle coach service will run from Quinta to Chirk station from 1-3pm on Saturday 1 September. Plan your train journeys with plenty of time to catch the train from Chirk (2pm onwards).
Top tip: Look out for other Forum folk flocking towards Chirk on the trains. A classic game of “Guess if they’re a Christian” is always fun!
Travelling by Road
Those travelling by car can find directions at the Quinta website. Free parking is available on-site at Forum; however, please note cars are not allowed on the camping field. Follow the directions of the friendly Forum stewards in high-vis tabards who will show you where to park.
Top tip: Ring your CU pals who are already there to line up ready-made help to carry your stuff from your car! It will teach them lots about serving…
What do I do first?
Our friendly stewards in high-vis and staff in welcome t-shirts will direct you, whether on-foot off the shuttle coach from the station or in your car. Before you unpack, you need to register at the welcome area in Fringe Stage marquee (it will be obvious where to go). At registration, we’ll give you necessary delegate information and point you in the direction of your campsite or indoor accommodation.
Top tip: Look out for your CU Staff Worker. They’ll be happy to help you in putting up your tent!
