After finishing school, Pete left behind the sheep and rain of South Wales to explore the city of dreaming spires, and his 4 years of studying Maths in Oxford were some of the most precious in my whole life.
In addition to playing lots of cricket and spending countless hours trying to solve differential equations, it was a huge joy and privilege of his to be regularly involved with St Ebbes church and the Oxford Uni CU, which both contributed to huge growth in his faith, and an increasing excitement to introduce his friends to Jesus!
Pete is extremely grateful to have been brought up in a family where his parents love and treasure the Lord Jesus, and where many taught him about Christ as he was growing up. It was at some point during his teenage years that he made a personal decision to put his trust in Christ as his Saviour, and through a nasty knee injury endured on the rugby field was taught the importance of dependence on Christ and not himself.
You might think that a lad born and raised in the (beautiful) Welsh countryside would look to move anywhere else before settling on Central London, but then he decided to marry Charlotte and got drawn into the busy city lifestyle. That said, he is excited by the prospect of more than one bus every two hours! Pete is thrilled to be working alongside the CUs at UCL, SOAS and Westminster universities as they seek to proclaim the life changing news about Jesus to all on their campuses. It was once said to him that ’Never again until the nursing home will you have such a good opportunity to share life and the Gospel with your friends as you do at University’, and he is hugely excited to encourage and help students to take this opportunity in Central London!
Sport and maths are two of Pete’s great passions in life, and he is often bemused that most people seem more keen to talk about the former… As well as these, he loves working through puzzles, hanging out with pals, inventing challenges and games out of anything within an arms reach, and the day of the year that Creme Eggs first appear in the shops.
