Nicholas Butcher

Relay Worker in our London region.

Nicholas is doing Relay in London, supporting the Christian Union in Royal Holloway, University of London.

Relay is a ten-month discipleship, training and mission programme run by UCCF, a charity which aims to give every student in Great Britain an opportunity to hear and respond to the good news about Jesus Christ.

Relay Workers equip, resource and encourage student Christian Unions whilst being discipled and trained by a member of UCCF staff.

Nicholas says...

After completing a degree in Drama and Theatre arts at the University of Birmingham I'm super excited to be venturing to Royal Holloway to serve as a Relay worker there.

Being involved in the Christian Union was a massive highlight of my time in Birmingham, and I saw first hand how powerfully God can use CU's and students to impact where they are. University provides a unique opportunity for people to really think through their big questions, and for Christians to offer out hope to those around them. Its an immense privilege to be able to support this mission further and help students meet the person who offers them true meaning, satisfaction and life: Jesus! I'm particularly excited to get alongside students in the CU and help them grow in their passion for CU mission.

I'm also really looking forwards to opportunities to grow personally through serving, training, and through my own theological study as part of the programme.

For this to all happen I'm reliant on the support of people like you. It'd be amazing to partner with you, financially and in prayer for both me and Royal Holloway. All money given goes towards my ministry and living expenses, allowing me to carry out this work. If you want to join me in this way do sign up below, and if you want to chat about anything at all do get in contact!

Pray for Nicholas

Prayer is a vital part of supporting Nicholas’s work with Christian Unions. Here are some prayer points from Nicholas:

  • Please pray for me as I leave my beloved Brum and head south, both emotionally as I say goodbye and for the practicalities of moving.
  • Please pray God would be working in my heart to prepare me for my ministry, that I would be able to serve the CU well.
  • Please pray that God would be working through the CU at Royal Holloway this year, that God would use it to grow his kingdom.

Partner with Nicholas

It costs on average £8,000–12,000 to cover the living and ministry expenses of a Relay Worker.

Having a team of people who partner financially and in prayer with Relay Workers means that they can:

  • Encourage CU students in their faith in the Lord Jesus.
  • Give biblically-grounded answers to students exploring Christianity.
  • Support CUs as they seek to give every student the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel.
