Philippa will be starting work with UCCF as CU Staff Worker in August 2021.
John 15:5: If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
Like so much of the city, East London is a place of paradox. Eye-watering wealth lives alongside heart-breaking poverty. Every nationality, faith, age-group, worldview and identity are represented, from the woke to the fundamentalist, the bankers to school kids. Diversity is taken to the next level - but every single person here has one thing in common: without Jesus they are lost.
My husband and I have spent the last few years working in the East End in community outreach and from August I will be continuing to do so, working with UCCF as a Staff Worker for East London. Like the rest of the region the student population is multicultural and multifaith. At university students of all backgrounds rub shoulders and more than any time in life big questions are asked and encouraged. I am excited to be a part of helping CUs make the unparalleled and glorious truth of the gospel known on campus and in the communities around.
In my time on the field Jesus’ words in John 15:5 have often resounded in my ears: “apart from me you can do nothing.” Without Him, and His Spirit at work, we can do nothing. Would you partner with me in asking Him to act? Could you help to meet the financial needs of the ministry? If so, I'd love to hear from you so we can keep you updated.
