Rhys will be starting work with UCCF as CU Staff Worker in August 2021.
The first term of the first year of university was the space where I would encounter Jesus and become forever undone by who he is and what he’d done for me. The opportunity to then stand as a united group of people from different churches, cultures and campuses to joyfully share the gospel message was a serious delight for me.
With an estimated 65,000 undergraduates and 12,000 postgraduates studying in Cardiff, the brief season that is studying at university provides a huge opportunity for the gospel to reach all peoples. That being said, university can be a lonely and isolated place for Christians to try and manoeuvre, especially as they share their faith with course mates, housemates and friends. The CU exists as mission teams that operate at the heart of the university campuses and in the city. Teams of students, resourced by Christian Union Staff workers and supported by the local church are best placed to reach their fellow students for Jesus.
Stepping back into the student mission field, my role will be to encourage, equip, mobilise and support these student teams as they pursue gospel renewal across the city.
I’d be so honoured if you’d consider standing with me in both prayer and financial support, in order that UCCF continue to be able to encourage and equip CU members to reach out to the students who decide to make Cardiff their home.
I’d be delighted to hear from you.
