Moldova Summer Team
The CU movement in Moldova is around 20 years old and wonderfully, it's growing! As part of this summer team, you will have a wonderful opportunity to partner with students and staff doing CU mission in a context that is challenging, and very different from our own, but also incredibly exciting.
Our main focus as a team will be helping to run a week-long evangelistic English and Bible camp. Moldovan students will come to meet British students, practise their English and enjoy lots of different cultural experiences! As a team, we'll help to lead evangelistic Bible studies, English lessons and main meetings and join in with a full programme of games, team challenges and trips with students-aiming to build genuine friendships with them, to share our life and faith.
Before the camp itself we'll spend some time doing team training, meeting local students and visiting local churches, as we seek to understand more of the culture we're speaking into. The whole trip provides a really excellent opportunity to see and be part of world student mission, learn from and experience a culture very different from our own and have our faith challenged and grown in lots of wonderful ways.
The first week will be an Orientation week, where the English team will acclimatise to the new environment, be equipped for the camp through training sessions and prepare Bible studies and English lessons for the camp. The second week (1st-8th) will be at the English camp itself, mixing and building relationships with Moldovan students and leading Bible studies and English lessons. On the final night of the camp Moldovan students will host British students in their family homes, and then we regather in Chisinau at the CSC office on the 9th July. The final few days are for debriefing within the country as a team before returning to the UK.
The cost of the trip will be £869 in total and this includes the price of attending the Summer Team Orientation Conference from 17th - 19th May 2019 at the Quinta Christian Centre in Oswestry.
The price also covers flights to Chisinau in Moldova from either London or Manchester; transport in the country; accommodation and most meals. We will discuss in advance which meals aren't fully covered. We will eat local food, travel primarily by car/bus but may take public transport together. During orientation we will be staying in local Christian families homes, often they are away at other camps and leave us their house or flat to say in. Depending on the team size usually all male students will stay in one place and all the female students in another
The payment schedule is as follows:
On Application - £167
22nd May - £312
13th June - £390
If you’re a UK passport holder you won’t need a visa for the trip, but do ensure your passport has at least 6 months in date, for other information on Moldova and travel advice and vaccinations check out the UK Government website. Those with other passports may be required to obtain a visa and this cost is not included in the price of the trip. More information will be given at interview.
For participation in many of our summer teams you would need to be up-to-date with routine UK vaccinations and may need to have one or two more, we ask all students on the trip to make a travel nurse appointment before flying out. The cost of these vaccinations is not included in the price of the trip
In the unlikely event that 6 people or fewer were to apply we would discuss the possibility of cancelling the trip but would let you know at least 2 weeks before the orientation conference and would discuss with you alternative trips that might be a suitable replacement.
Should delays occur at the outward or homewards points of departure we’ll work with the host movement and the Travel Management Company to ensure that you are able to take another flight to your destination and that accommodation is provided if necessary
The money you pay for the trip will be transferred into a designated fund which will only be used to pay for the summer team. ATOL and ABTA will ensure that you are repatriated or given a full refund for the flight in the unlikely event of the Travel Management Company’s financial failure, and if you have booked a package holiday with us. For the non-flight components of the trip, in accordance with "The Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992" all passengers booking with UCCF are fully protected for the initial deposit and subsequently the balance of all monies paid to us, including repatriation if required, arising from cancellation or curtailment of your travel arrangements due to the insolvency of UCCF.
