Application process

Being a Forum volunteer is free and easy. We’ve designed the application process to be as smooth and informative as possible so you feel fully prepared to join us this summer. Applications will close Friday 18 July 2025 but may close early if we reach our quotas.

Here’s a quick overview of what to expect as you move through the process:

  1. Submit your application – Once you have filled out the form, we will contact you to let you know that we have contacted your referees. Be sure they meet the requirements outlined in the form.
  2. References check – After we have received your references, our volunteer team will review your application and let you know if you’ve been successful. If you’re selected – welcome aboard, You’re officially a volunteer.
  3. Team assignment – As a confirmed volunteer, it’s time to get you assigned to your team. The volunteer manager will reach out with all the details you need based on your role. You’ll also receive important health and safety information. Be sure to check your inbox for these updates and sign your volunteer agreement before the deadline.
  4. You are all set – Congratulations, you’ve completed the volunteer application process. Now it’s time to pack, prepare, and get ready for an amazing week ahead!

Key points to remember when applying:

  • We appreciate every application for our volunteer positions, though we may not have space to accommodate everyone who applies. Nonetheless, we will make every effort to find a suitable role for each individual within the volunteer team.
  • We warmly invite everyone to apply. Our application allows you to share any additional support you may need throughout the week. This helps us ensure that Forum remains open and accessible to all.
  • If you'll be a student and member of your CU in the next academic year, talk to your staff worker about applying to volunteer. Volunteers don't get to spend much time with delegates or pick what content they attend so you may benefit more from attending with your CU. If you're considering applying due to the cost of attending, do talk to your staff worker first about the funding options available to you.
  • Apart from in exceptional circumstances where approved by the event manager, we cannot cover your travel costs to site.
  • All volunteer teams need to be on site on Saturday 30 August, check-in happening between 2-4pm, for essential training and induction. If this will prohibit you from volunteering, please let us know your earliest arrival time in the application form.
  • Please take note of the requirements for your references, not selecting a suitable person can delay the application process and may result in termination of your application.

Reference 1: Church referee - this can be a church leader/elder/member of the current church you attend. If you're at university, this should ideally be your university church but can be your home church. They need to have known you for a minimum of 2 years.

Reference 2:
Personal referee - this can be a friend, employer, work colleague etc. They should be able to comment on your character and suitability for volunteering. They will also need to have known you for a minimum of 2 years.

Relatives will not be accepted for either of the references.

If you have any questions on the above do use this form to contact us.
