Assistant Team Leader in our North East region.
Andrea grew up in the lovely little town of Matlock in Derbyshire, where her parents faithfully told her of Jesus and took her to their local church from an early age.
She became a Christian through the church children's work at the age of 8 and when she was 15, got baptised with some of her best friends from her youth group.
When she was 18 she spread her wings and moved to equally beautiful Yorkshire, to study music at Huddersfield University. Finding university life and being away from home much harder than she anticipated, Andrea began to really question her faith for the first time and struggle to work it out in the world of university halls of residence. Thankfully, when she needed it most, Andrea met the CU at Huddersfield who welcomed her in and helped her find a local church.
Happy to have found some Christians to hide away from the world from, little did Andrea know that this was the complete opposite of what God wanted and had planned for her! Through the faithful direction and teaching of the CU staff worker and her local church, she discovered the joy and importance in sharing the gospel and her faith at university, not hiding it away from people.
This revelation and new found excitement led her to stick around in Huddersfiel to do Relay-where she was completely amazed time and time again by all she learnt about Jesus, his grace and seeing it in action! After that, she worked in a secondary school for a couple of years as a learning mentor, then went on to spend a year working part-time as a student worker with her church and part-time as a tutor.
She is thrilled to be working with the UCCF team in West Yorkshire and have the opportunity to encourage and support students in CUs as they share the gospel.
Andrea is married to Jamie and they live in Huddersfield. She is well known amongst friends and family for her very strange sneezes and constant laughter. She loves a good cup of tea (especially if it's Yorkshire), playing the flute, piano and generally making music and a good old hike up some hills.
