Heather Dargie

Heather will be starting work with UCCF as Relay Worker in August 2026.

Heather is doing Relay in York, supporting the Christian Unions in York St John University and the University of York.

Relay is a ten-month discipleship, training and mission programme run by UCCF, a charity which aims to give every student in Great Britain an opportunity to hear and respond to the good news about Jesus Christ.

Relay Workers equip, resource and encourage student Christian Unions whilst being discipled and trained by a member of UCCF staff.

Heather says...

I will be spending this year doing Relay in York working with the two university Christian Unions there! I will be supporting the students in York as they tell their friends, teammates, course mates, and strangers about the good news of Jesus. This will involve supporting some students one-to-one by meeting with them to study the Bible, helping freshers to settle in and get stuck in with CU, helping with running evangelistic events and lots more.

I have loved being part of Sheffield University Christian Union, getting involved in events week and sharing Jesus with the students here and I’m VERY excited to support students doing the same in York, to help them live their lives for Jesus and point others towards Him. I’m excited to get to know the students in York and to grow in my own relationship with God!

I would so grateful if you could support me through prayer during my Relay year, that I would settle in well and be helpful to the students in York. If you feel you would be able to give financially towards my year doing Relay that would be amazing and I would be very grateful! I will need money to cover living costs and ministry costs and the details about how to donate are on this page.

Thank you for reading a bit about what I’ll be spending next year doing, I’m super excited to get started and I’m looking forward to what’s next!

Pray for Heather

Prayer is a vital part of supporting Heather’s work with Christian Unions. Here are some prayer points from Heather:

  • That I would rely on God's strength, not my own, and that I would find my rest in Him.
  • That I would enjoy getting involved in York, in CU, church, and netball, and that I would build new friendships whilst maintaining my relationships in Sheffield!
  • That I would be useful to the students in York, that we would be an encouragement to each other and that students in York would be open to hearing about Jesus!

Partner with Heather

It costs on average £10,000–£14,000 to cover the living and ministry expenses of a Relay Worker.

Having a team of people who partner financially and in prayer with Relay Workers means that they can:

  • Encourage CU students in their faith in the Lord Jesus.
  • Give biblically-grounded answers to students exploring Christianity.
  • Support CUs as they seek to give every student the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel.
