Relay Worker in our North East region.
Phoebe is doing Relay in Durham, supporting the Christian Union in Durham University.
Relay is a ten-month discipleship, training and mission programme run by UCCF, a charity which aims to give every student in Great Britain an opportunity to hear and respond to the good news about Jesus Christ.
Relay Workers equip, resource and encourage student Christian Unions whilst being discipled and trained by a member of UCCF staff.
University has revealed to me what it means for Christ’s power to be perfected in my weakness, both in my personal discipleship and in mission. I firmly believe that it is availability not ability that God works through and so I am excited to dedicate the next year to his ongoing work among students in Durham, many of whom have never heard the gospel, some who have never heard the name of Jesus.
Last year, I had the privilege of sharing the gospel specifically with international students and witnessing two of them coming to Christ. One thing that excites me most about Durham CU is our partnership with students from Teikyo university in Japan. 99% of people in Japan have never heard the gospel, but as a CU we the opportunity of meeting weekly with exchange students from Teikyo university to build friendships and share the gospel.
I am so excited to see what God is going to do in Durham uni this year, and I would love to be able to share stories with you of what happens through the year and would love for you to pray for me and the students. Relay is a voluntary position and therefore I am also looking for financial supporters to contribute towards my living costs, so that I can fully invest my time in this ministry. If you’re financially able to partner in student ministry and invest in my personal discipleship in this way, I would be very grateful.
