Helsinki Easter Team

Join us for a city mission in the Nordics!

Helsinki has 4 different Universities in the city with opportunities to share the gospel. With 69% of Finns pursuing undergraduate level education and only 10% of the population consider themselves evangelical, the opportunities are open wide. There are also many international students who are open to hearing more about Jesus.

On the ground we'll help with practical tasks, first-contact conversations, creating a warm, welcoming environment for seekers, and encouraging the local movement with all they are doing.

No language requirement necessary. The events and talks are in English, many Finnish and international students study in English.

If this sounds like the kind of adventure for you - Get in touch! We'd love to hear from you.

We will be flying out of Stansted airport and getting around via bus and tram in Helsinki. We will be staying in the OPKO head office (IFES Finland) which has been renovated for short term overnight stays. It has sleeping bags and mattresses provided (though you would be welcome to bring your own sleeping bag if you wanted). It is recommended you bring your own towel.

Here's what the week will look like:

  • Friday 10 April - Arriving in Helsinki
  • Saturday 11 April - Spending time being tourists in Helsinki
  • Sunday 12 April - Attending a local church
  • Monday 13 April - Events Week information evening
  • Tuesday 14 - Friday 17th April - The events week itself
  • Saturday 18 April - Return home

The estimated cost of the trip is £340 which includes the cost of food. It does not include tourist spending or travelling to the airport within the UK. We will be eating main meals at lunchtimes (typical in the Nordic countries) within the University cafeterias. Evening meals are often lighter - bread, meat, and cheese). The flight costs will be in addition to this and will depend on the time of booking. Staff Workers will be drawing alongside you to help facilitate your fundraising efforts. Successful applicants are responsible for ensuring they have the money in time for the trip.

Those travelling on a British passport will not be required to apply for a visa for this trip. There are no vaccinations required for this trip but it is recommended that you are up to date with your routine vaccination courses and boosters.
