Next steps: an update from the UCCF Trust Board

Following the conclusion of Hilary Winstone’s investigation into employment practices, UCCF are working to swiftly implement her recommendations in full and are committed to continuing to build a culture where staff are well cared for.

We are pleased that Richard Cunningham, our Director, has now begun a phased return to his role and Tim Rudge, Field Director, has been informally reconnecting with staff before his formal phased return in the coming weeks.

The Trustees and leadership team are grateful to all our supporters, both those who support individual staff and those supporting the wider work. We also thank all those who have prayed for UCCF and our staff over these past few months.

Simon Day, Interim Chair of Trustees for UCCF says, ‘At UCCF we remain committed to ensuring we build an environment for our teams, staff and students that reflects the values of Jesus and His Kingdom. We recognise that some aspects of our culture and practices have fallen short of that and are sorry. We will continue to work on developing a culture where all our staff can thrive. I am very pleased to welcome Richard and Tim back to their roles over the coming weeks so that under their leadership we can continue to support CUs as they see student lives changed across the country.’

In order to ensure strong governance and oversight of the charity, the Trust Board are actively recruiting new Trustees. We have also engaged a law firm to conduct a review of our governance structures. We want to attain best practice as an employer, so that every employee’s experience matches the high standards we have set ourselves.

Our vision remains unchanged as we share the gospel among students by equipping and supporting student-led Christian Unions. We are grateful for the ongoing commitment of UCCF staff to see lives transformed through the good news of Jesus, as we continue to see students across the country find true freedom in Christ.
