  • Farewell and thank you to Peter Dray

Farewell and thank you to Peter Dray, Director of Creative Evangelism

On Friday 6 September, Peter Dray will finish with UCCF.

Pete has been a staff member with the fellowship for more than 20 years. He served as a Staff Worker in Lancashire and Cumbria, before moving to lead the North East team, where he developed a healthy and generous team culture. As Head and then Director of Creative Evangelism, he has reimagined and shaped faithful, contextual approaches to mission for CUs across Britain. Over the years, he has directly supervised 24 Relay Workers and more than 20 Staff Workers.

During the pandemic, Pete pioneered Impact Groups which kept many CUs afloat. This innovative approach to missional small groups continues to bear fruit in many settings.

Pete stepped into the role of Interim Executive Director in December 2022 and has exemplified sacrificial, godly and intelligent servant leadership. Under his leadership, staff have been freshly encouraged and empowered to use their skills and talents in a range of ways. Pete has modelled a leadership culture of care, transparency and collaboration within UCCF, bringing significant cultural and structural change during a period of difficulty and uncertainty.

Simon Day, our Chair of Trustees says:

I, and the whole Trust Board, are hugely grateful to Pete for everything he has done in providing leadership and stability to the fellowship in this season. Much more than that, we are thankful for his passionate love for students and desire to see them turn to the Lord Jesus. The fruit of that love is clear to see in many areas, but most obviously in the vitality of CUs he has worked with and in the ministry of the many staff and Relay Workers he has invested in.

We’re so thankful for all that Pete has given for UCCF and we will miss working alongside him. Please join us in praying for Pete as he finishes with UCCF, and that the impact and extent of his pioneering initiatives, personal integrity and very evident love for people continue to positively influence UCCF and students across Great Britain in the years to come.
