Top Tip: It is worth having someone from your group in charge of catering. This person can help organise a menu for the week and be in charge of ordering food. Remember to get everyone’s dietary requirements for the week!
You have access to a freezer where you can store your ice packs, however no food can be stored in there. The freezer gets very crowded, so be aware that you might not come home with the ice packs you brought.
Breakfast
Keep it easy offering people cereals and fruit. One day you could provide bacon (& quorn bacon) butties for everyone.
Lunch
Buy some bread and sandwich fillings for the week (cheese, ham, nutella, etc). This means people can help themselves. Also have some crisps, fruit and snacks available.
Check with your staff worker to see when your region may be catering for you either at lunch or dinner
Dinner
Why not get someone in your CU to batch cook a vegetarian chilli for the first evening, then all you have to do is warm it up, and put on some rice.
Other dinner options:
Fajitas (Halloumi as option for vegetarians)
Burgers and Salad
Veggie curry or stew
Mac & Cheese
Pasta & Veg with pesto or tomato sauce
It is definitely worth planning for your whole CU to get a meal from one of the food vans on site.
Treats
Why not buy some marshmallows to roast on the campfire or ingredients for smores or banana splits to do in your camping area.
There will be food vans on site where you can treat yourself to a tasty treat. There are supermarkets nearby: Co-op in Chirk, Morrisons & Sainsburys in Oswestry and Tesco or Asda in Wrexham.
If you want to come to Forum without the fuss of planning or prepping your meals, you can choose to add a meal pass to your booking. Our caterers Gracious Catering will provide you with meals, in a takeaway format, from Monday dinner through to Friday breakfast. This means you can grab your meal and head down to your CU campsite to hang out, to maximise time with others in your CU campsite. We can cater for all dietary requirements. Meals will be provided in biodegradable/compostable containers to minimise waste. Don’t forget to bring a water bottle for refillable drinks. If you’ve already booked, you can add a meal pass by logging in to manage your booking. Meal passes are not available for purchase after 2nd August 2024
We ask that you do not cook in your tents, but use the cooking tents provided in your regional camping zone. Please do not bring disposable BBQ's on site. There will be a chance to have a BBQ with your region. Please make sure you pack all the materials needed to clean all your cooking utensils thoroughly.
