Abigail Adenigbagbe

Relay Worker in our South West region.

Abi is doing Relay in Plymouth, supporting the Christian Union in Plymouth University.

Relay is a ten-month discipleship, training and mission programme run by UCCF, a charity which aims to give every student in Great Britain an opportunity to hear and respond to the good news about Jesus Christ.

Relay Workers equip, resource and encourage student Christian Unions whilst being discipled and trained by a member of UCCF staff.

Abi says...

Hellooo, I’m Abi! I’ve recently finished studying Biomedical Science at the University of York, and I’m so excited to be moving to Plymouth to work with the Christian Union there.

I was blessed to be part of the CU during my time at University and see how faithful God has been in reaching those in the student community who don’t yet know Him. It’s been incredibly encouraging to be involved in student mission, growing in faith and sharing the gospel alongside some wonderful people.

As I get to know the students of Plymouth CU, I’m looking forward to the opportunity to support, encourage, and learn from them as they seek to point their friends to Jesus. Thankfully, the Holy Spirit will do the work of transforming hearts, but I would love to invite you to pray for me and the students as we step out in faith. I’m praying throughout this year, I’ll learn more through the study programme and Science Network elective, grow as a disciple of Christ and learn to rely on him in new ways.

Relay is a voluntary role, I will be relying heavily on the prayerful and financial support of others throughout the year. I am aiming to raise £11,000 to cover my living and ministry expenses for the year. If you would like to support me financially, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, sign up to my prayer letter to be updated on the ongoing mission in Plymouth, and please get in touch!

Pray for Abi

Prayer is a vital part of supporting Abi’s work with Christian Unions. Here are some prayer points from Abi:

  • For God to open the hearts of those at Plymouth Uni and that students in the CU will be encouraged and bold in sharing the gospel on campus.
  • That I would quickly settle and find a church and good community in Plymouth.
  • That I would know Jesus even more deeply and lean on him in all circumstances.

Partner with Abigail

It costs on average £10,000–£14,000 to cover the living and ministry expenses of a Relay Worker.

Having a team of people who partner financially and in prayer with Relay Workers means that they can:

  • Encourage CU students in their faith in the Lord Jesus.
  • Give biblically-grounded answers to students exploring Christianity.
  • Support CUs as they seek to give every student the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel.
