Relay Worker in our North East region.
Emily is doing Relay in York, supporting the Christian Union in York St John University.
Relay is a ten-month discipleship, training and mission programme run by UCCF, a charity which aims to give every student in Great Britain an opportunity to hear and respond to the good news about Jesus Christ.
Relay Workers equip, resource and encourage student Christian Unions whilst being discipled and trained by a member of UCCF staff.
Hi, I'm Emily, and I'm a Relay Worker this year in York, working primarily with York St John University.
As a student I was the only member of my Christian Union for a couple of years, and my Staff Worker was a great blessing to me with her support, I got to have many one to ones throughout the years! I am looking forward to being able to provide that kind of support to students at York St John, as I know it can be really hard being the only Christian on your course or in your flat/house. It's important to encourage each other to keep deepening our personal relationship with God, and living it out, sharing it with our friends and classmates, even if it's sometimes just in the way we live.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how God works on this campus, through this Christian Union, and getting to know the students, encouraging them and being encouraged by them. I am also looking forward to the study and Bible teaching, being able to grow more in that way, and apply it to the ministry I'm doing.
This is a voluntary, unpaid year, so I would be very grateful for any financial support you are able to give! I am looking to raise £10,000 to cover my living and ministry expenses. I would also really appreciate prayer, please do sign up for my prayer letter if you would like updates and prayer points each month.
Prayer is a vital part of supporting Emily’s work with Christian Unions. Here are some prayer points from Emily:
It costs on average £10,000–£14,000 to cover the living and ministry expenses of a Relay Worker.
Having a team of people who partner financially and in prayer with Relay Workers means that they can:
