Relay Worker.
Mary is doing Relay in Galway.
Relay is a ten-month discipleship, training and mission programme run by UCCF, a charity which aims to give every student in Great Britain an opportunity to hear and respond to the good news about Jesus Christ. UCCF also partner with CUI to facilitate the running of the Relay Programme in Ireland.
Relay Workers equip, resource and encourage student Christian Unions whilst being discipled and trained by a member of UCCF staff.
Hi everyone!
My name is Mary and I just finished my undergraduate degree in Law and Spanish in the University of Galway. I started my degree with the desire to break into a well-paying profession and during my yearlong stay in Spain, I became a Christian and wanted everyone to know about the the salvation that’s so freely given by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Once I returned home from the year abroad, I began attending my University’s Christian Union and was blessed to see the many evangelistic activities they undertook in addition to their desire to give every student the opportunity to hear the gospel. Seeing as I entered my final year of University as a Christian, it was really difficult for me to be fully involved with all of the CU’s activities but, as the Lord opened up more opportunities for me to participate, I grew a love for the students who were yet to hear the good news of the gospel.
Thus, I will be doing Relay in that same University! It’s a diverse and multicultural campus which is overflowing with people who are yet to hear the gospel (or at least the true gospel). This year will be challenging but I look forward to not only supporting my fellow Christians on campus in the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ (in both our evangelistic activities and with their classmates) but also getting the opportunity to be one of the people to whom those who aren’t believers may learn about Jesus and also receive answers to questions they may have about the faith (which may arise through individual/group Bible studies amongst other activities).
During this year of Relay, I am responsible for fundraising and will need to raise roughly around €7,200 which would account for my living expenses in addition to the numerous conferences which I would have to travel to attend. Although it’s a difficult task, all things come from the Lord and He will surely provide for all my needs. I would really appreciate your collaboration with me by praying for the mission on campus and also by supporting me financially which could be broken down into the equivalent of €15 or €20 (or more) per month. It would be a blessing if you could partner with me!
I will be sending out prayer letters so that you can get more information on what to pray for during this year. This will be going out monthly and I can’t wait to marvel at the great work our Lord will do through me, the CU and your partnership this year! ”
