Relay Worker in our London region.

Sam is doing Relay in London, supporting the Christian Unions in St George's, University of London and St Mary's University College, Twickenham.

Relay is a ten-month discipleship, training and mission programme run by UCCF, a charity which aims to give every student in Great Britain an opportunity to hear and respond to the good news about Jesus Christ.

Relay Workers equip, resource and encourage student Christian Unions whilst being discipled and trained by a member of UCCF staff.

Sam says...

I'm doing Relay! For any of you unfamiliar with this programme, it essentially means I'll be working closely with Christian Unions at St George's and St Mary's universities for the year ahead. I'll be helping them plan and organise their CU meetings and evangelistic outreach, alongside meeting the students to read the Bible during the week. On top of the work I'll be doing, UCCF will also be training me up in theology and evangelism with weekly support from a Staff Worker as well as various training conferences throughout the year.

But to do this I need your support. There are two main ways that might look…

Pray - first and foremost, I’d love you to pray for me and this ministry. Paul sets a constant example of the vital need to pray for our gospel proclamation:

“And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ” (Colossians 4:3)

Give - secondly, this is a voluntary position, so I will need to raise funds to sustain it. Again I go to Paul, who thanks those who give and credits them as blessed for participating in the mission and storing up treasure in heaven. I have begun fundraising and praise God that people have already been generous but I would be so grateful if you could help me and join in the ministry by supporting me in this way.

Pray for Sam

Prayer is a vital part of supporting Sam’s work with Christian Unions. Here are some prayer points from Sam:

• Please pray specifically for God to work powerfully through St George's and St Mary's CUs. The biggest joy I could possibly have this year would be to see students come to know Jesus through our ministry on these campuses.
• I would love prayer that God would use me to help the existing Christians at these CUs too. Please pray for me that I'd be able to help encourage them to have zeal in evangelism and grow in the knowledge and love for Jesus through discipleship.
• Lastly please pray that the Lord would grow me! I'm really excited to grow more confident in my evangelism and I hope that this year will encourage me in that and draw me closer to my Lord too.
