FAQs

Should I let you know if I have left a gift to UCCF in my Will?

Once you’ve written us in your Will, please let us know about your gift by completing our form. We’d like to thank you and send you exclusive information showing the impact that your gift could have.

Can I change my Will?

You should review your will every 5 years and after any major change in your life. You cannot amend your will after it’s been signed and witnessed. The only way you can change a will is by making an official alteration called a codicil. You must sign a codicil and get it witnessed in the same way as witnessing a will. Find out more on the government website here.

Who should I appoint as an executor?

You can have up to four executors to deal with your wishes. These could be friends, family, or a professional such as your solicitor. Beneficiaries of your Will can also be executors. Whoever you choose, make sure you ask their permission.

Do I need a solicitor?

You do not need a solicitor to make a Will. However, if you are looking at writing or reviewing your Will then it is advisable to seek independent legal advice. The cost of drawing up a simple will should not be large; a solicitor will ensure that legal formalities are followed and that you will feel comfortable about the content of your will. You can find a local solicitor through the Law Society at www.lawsociety.org.uk.

Your solicitor will be able to supply the correct wording to include a charitable gift in your will. Alternatively, if you have written your will, your solicitor will be able to advise you on the best way to make changes or additions to your will to ensure your wishes are carried out.

Can I leave money to a specific area of the ministry?

Your gift can be used to support any area of our ministry. To ensure maximum flexibility, we would encourage anyone leaving UCCF a gift in their will to give no restrictions as to its use. This will enable us to use the gift wherever the need is greatest to further our ministry with students. Please contact our legacies team and we’d love to discuss this further.
