What comes next? How to follow-up

Our hope is that this welcome call gives new students a sense of familiarity with the CU and puts them at ease about going to university. The next step is to connect them with things that will continue to serve them well as they start uni. Here are three things to consider communicating to those who were on your call. You should also share the details of these via your social media platforms.

Start Here

'Start Here' is a four-week small group course for new students covering: Campus, Community, Course and Culture. It is designed for all students, whether Christian or not, and follows the style of Impact Groups. CU students should lead Start Here groups. These groups should have big appeal – new students can get to know each other as well as older students from their uni before they arrive.

Freshers’ Getaway

Some CUs host a pre-term getaway for new students (you can read more about these here). If your CU is running a Freshers’ Getaway share details of what it’s about, when and where it is, and how new students can sign up.

Welcome Week

Before you know it, you will all be at university together! During the first few weeks of term you probably have some events planned to welcome new students and to reach out to others with the good news of Jesus. Let freshers know the best place to hear more about what you’ve got planned (maybe your social media channels).
