Appendix 1 - Should I start a new CU Facebook page or clean up the current page?

If your CU has an inactive Facebook page filled with cheesy posts from five years ago and photos only of former students, something needs to be done.

One option is to start a whole new page. This is probably the best thing to do if...

  • You've got masses of old photos and embarrassing posts to delete.
  • You don’t have much time.
  • You want to do a complete revamp.
  • However, bear in mind that unless you post in the old page with a link to the new page, you will lose all existing followers.
  • If you do decide to start from scratch, be sure to delete the old page to avoid confusion.

A second option is to clean up the current page. We’d recommend this if...

  • There’s not much previous history that you want to delete.
  • You’re only changing a few bits, like the page description or branding.
  • You already have a good number of people following the page.
